Our wedding is finally over, but now it's time to carry the practices we followed and the goals we set for our special day into our married life. We aim to buy less, use less, and make less waste, and to lead healthy, happy lives for ourselves and the planet.

The Bride and the Groom

The Bride
Kasey P. Lindsay

Originally from southern California and Tucson, Arizona, Kasey moved to the Bay Area on September 11, 2001.  She got her Bachelor's Degree in Philosophy from Mills College in 2005, and has put that degree to good use working with developmentally disabled children and adults.  She has taught special ed preschool and worked as a teacher's aide in a special ed elementary classroom, and she has done respite care for children with autism.  She currently works in Oakland at Clausen House as an Independent Living Skills Instructor for developmentally disabled adults who live on their own but need help with things like going to medical appointments, cooking, and managing money.

Kasey became a vegan in February, 2010 after reading Eating Animals by Jonathan Safran Foer and watching Food, Inc.  She's wholly dedicated to the green lifestyle: she recycles religiously, rides her bike to work, and turns the lights off whenever she leaves a room.

In her free time, Kasey thinks about making art, reads as much as she can (mostly self-help books), does indoor rock climbing, and eats lots of food (especially at expensive restaurants).  She loves documentaries and NPR.  And currently she's forcing herself to work on her wedding (which she's doing all on her own) as often as she can stand it.

When she grows up, Kasey wants to be a foster parent.  Maybe she'll choose a few to adopt and keep forever.  Her mother has requested a redhead.

The Groom
Travis Austin Ford

Travis' parents moved to Concord, California when he was three years old, and he lived there until June, 2011 when he finally moved in to Kasey's Berkeley home.  He still drives through the dreaded Caldecott Tunnel for work in Pleasant Hill, where he's on the support team for Valiant, a payroll software company.  He's studied at Diablo Valley College, San Francisco State University, and Heald College, where he got an Associate's Degree in Information Technology.

Travis loves playing computer games, watching television, and taking walks in the neighborhood to look at spider webs.  He's a voracious foodie and loves taking Kasey out to fancy restaurants where he's always willing to indulge her vegan lifestyle.  Travis loves spending weekends with the kids in Kasey's family, though he drives all of the adults crazy with how over-protective he can be.

Travis often worries that he'll never make enough money to support Kasey and truly make her happy.  Maybe one day he'll realize that all she needs is to have him snuggle with her on the couch under a cozy blanket while watching some silly television show.
